The Thirst Project
The thirst project is an organization that started off with a group of students. The group of students are trying to fund raise money to help people in Africa get clean water. The thirst project organization started in 2007. A friend from one of the people in the Thirst project came and they started telling stories. The friend told the guy that when he was in Africa he had to walk miles to get water but the water was dirty. The problem that they are trying to solve is to get people in Africa clean water. They are trying to get money so they can build pumps so they can get fresh, clean water. The pump costs 8000$ or 15000$ depending on where they buy it from. People in Africa had to walk 3 miles to get the water and had to walk 3 more miles to bring the jug back while carrying a jug that weighs like about 10 to 20 pounds.
Countries that are being helped by this organization are Uganda, Kenya, Africa, and almost all of South America. I can help by giving them money so they can buy pumps for them. I raised a dollar by getting a dollar from my wallet that I already had. I felt sad when I found out about the lack of clean accessible water because water is that can happen anywhere. Three things that can happen to your body because of lack of clean water is that these little insects go into your body. It takes at least one year to take the insect out of your body or you can cut your skin open and get the insect out of there. Another thing that can happen to your body is that lack of clean water can make your make get huge and then you can die.
I have never experienced or witnessed lack of clean water where I live or where I visited. I've only seen it in pictures and videos. I did not ask questions to get the money. I just took it from my wallet. People were curious to know where the money will go. I would have had just said that it it going to an organization to get people in Africa clean water. I did not ask people for help to raise my dollar. I felt good knowing that the dollar raised will make a dramatic difference in someone's life. I felt good knowing that it will help people in Africa get fresh, clean water.
